Legion Collegiate Esports, has announced a ground-breaking new partnership with BlockSocDAO, Ireland’s student-led blockchain society.
Since its establishment in September 2021, Legion Collegiate Esports has welcomed over 650 students from 37 universities and colleges participating in its series of esports tournaments.
As part of the wider Legion Esports + Media group, Legion Collegiate is focused on the development of a collaborative and engaging gaming and esports community within Irish colleges.
Since announcing a €100,000 investment in the venture last year, the company additionally plans to launch a range of career development initiatives to support Irish students with an interest in esports to reach their full potential.
What is BlockSocDAO?
While blockchain adoption is still in its early stages in Ireland, interest continues to grow with a recent industry report citing Ireland as the most “crypto curious” amongst 20 countries surveyed.
BlockSocDAO is building on that curiosity, developing a committed community that learns and builds together. Currently accessible through the BlockSocDAO Discord, students can discover opportunities in technical development, business, finance, creative industries, legal and more.
This new partnership with BlockSocDAO is a natural fit for both organisations. According to Legion Esports + Media CEO Stuart Dempsey:
“The passion and progress of BlockSocDAO thus far is incredibly impressive. They have a clear emphasis on collaboration, a focus aligned with Legion Collegiate’s core ethos. Likewise, they help students learn more about blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and the education and career opportunities in that space. We have exciting plans developing and look forward to making a number of additional announcements in the near future.”
Tom Clancy, President of BlockSoc and current UCD student, added:
“We’re delighted to partner with Legion Collegiate Esports and further promote our community to a wider student audience in Ireland. Our current members give everything when they can, and it has been a great experience so far. We have made so many valuable connections and can’t express enough gratitude for the support to date. I’d like to invite anyone with an interest in learning about blockchain to join BlockSocDAO. This is your opportunity to join a movement and make something for yourself, no matter your experience or capacity to commit. All are welcome!”
